UK3.2.1 Ordinary power of attorney

A power of attorney is a document which gives an individual (the attorney) the power to make certain decisions on behalf of the person giving the power (the donor). Powers of attorney always take effect during the lifetime of the donor — contrast this with a will, which always takes effect after death (see UK3.4).
