UK3.2.4 Enduring powers of attorney in Northern Ireland

A power of attorney is a legal document under which an individual (known as the donor) gives power to the appointed person (known as the attorney or donee) to make decisions for the granter on the donor's behalf. Note that although there are similarities between the rules for Northern Irish law and those for English and Welsh law (see UK3.2.2), they are not identical. One key difference is that there is no health and welfare power of attorney in Northern Ireland — these decisions are made by the next of kin.
