Crime and Courts Act 2013 (2013 c 22)

This Act introduced reforms across various aspects of the criminal justice system in the UK. It established the National Crime Agency to combat serious and organised crime, as well as introduced new procedures for the appointment and dismissal of judges to enhance judicial accountability. It also set out provisions for tackling economic crime, including extending Deferred Prosecution Agreements. Furthermore, provisions for drug-driving offences and recovery of the proceeds of crime were enhanced, emphasising the Act’s commitment to strengthening and modernising the legal framework for addressing complex criminal issues.
